Weekly Highlights
Holes-in-One have been occurring frequently during the
past several weeks at White Lake
and this week was no exception.
Danny Dowless of
White Lake continued the barrage of aces by
holing his tee shot on the number 5 par 3 hole with an 8
iron. His
shot was witnessed by Jeff Campbell, Norgie Hester, and
Henry Warrick.
The annual
Challenge Match between Land-O-Lakes and Carolina Sands
was held with each team claiming victory on its home
course. LOL
won its match with a +4 score and Carolina Sands won
with +6 which enabled it to retained the trophy for
another year.
Coker College
won the Carolina Sands Collegiate Invitational
hosted by UNCP on April 4 and 5.
Coker edged Barton College
in a playoff for its second consecutive Carolina Sands
victory.
Chris Marsh of Coker earned medalist honors with scores
of 70 and 68.
The team
of Matt Hardee, Norgie Hester, Charles Devane and Danny
Dowless won both sides (-8) in the Friday’s members’
Choose Up.
Charles Devane had three birdies leading to a 78.
Other scores posted included Gene Hall (76); Matt
Hardee (72); Steve Godwin (76);
Mac Porter (74);
Giorgio Boussias (76); BC Smith (82); Ann
Tessnear (75).
