BRITT FAMILY BUYS CAROLINA SANDS AT WHITE LAKE AND LAND-O-LAKES GOLF COURSES

It was announced today that two area golf courses have been sold. The properties, Carolina Sands at White Lake, located between Elizabethtown and White Lake, and Land-O-Lakes Golf Course, located five miles from Whiteville have been bought by April and Don Britt. The Britt's, who reside at Land-O-Lakes, purchased Carolina Sands on July 1 and Land-O-Lakes on July 3. Ms. Britt is the former April Storms, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Storms of Bladenboro while Mr. Britt is the son of the late Don Britt and Denette Britt Jackson of Clarkton.The purchase of Carolina Sands was from Ted Parker of Lumberton and the purchase of Land-O-Lakes was from a group of stockholders.Britt stated, "We are so proud to be the owners of these two prestigious courses. We are both natives of Bladen County and look forward to continue to provide affordable golf activity for the golfers in this area."

When asked about any changes planned in the future at Carolina Sands, Britt stated, "We are now selling Bella's (our daughter, Isabella) ice cream in the pro shop. We will continue to offer golf clubs, bags, balls and other golf-related merchandise. Our plans are to overseed greens and fairways in October to keep the golf course green all year long. We also have plans to install a driving range next year."Britt continued, "We are offering to reserve tee times for both courses. You can call Carolina Sands at 862-8796 or Land-O-Lakes at 642-5757 to reserve tee times for either course."Carolina Sands at White Lake, built in 1963, plays, from the championship tees, 6,925 yards, while Land-O-Lakes, built in 1969, plays 6,200 yards.Other future plans are to offer a dual membership to these two courses.
