SMITHFIELD RELAY FOR LIFE GOLF TOURNAMENT LARGEST ONE-DAY TOURNAMENT EVER HELD AT CAROLINA SANDS

On an absolutely perfect day for golf 268 players teed it up to participate in 2 tournaments (A.M. and P.M.)  sponsored by Smithfield Foods.  The proceeds for this tournament will go to cancer research through Relay For Life.

In a unique turn of events, the tournament chairman Lloyd Hester of White Lake had a hole-in-one on the fifth hole at Carolina Sands.  Hester, hitting a seven iron, aced the 135-yard par-3.

 

In the morning round, Terry Ludlum, Brent Craft, Jamie Gause and Lewis Sauls won closest to the hole.  In the afternoon round, Herb Weissinger, Derek Davis,  George Boussais and Lloyd Hester (hole-in-one) won closest to the hole.
